Default 2008 HUMMER H3 SUT Nearing Production

This is the first spy video of the 2008 Hummer H3 SUT, a new crew cab truck expected to arrive in 2008. Unlike the Hummer H2 SUT which merely has the roof over its cargo area removed, the smaller H3 sport-utility truck extends the wheelbase of the standard H3 SUV to make room for a large cargo bed. Interior passenger space doesn't look to have been compromised either, so this new H3 will offer five-passenger capacity along with its expanded cargo-carrying capability.

Since one of the biggest shortcomings of the current H3 SUV is a lack of power, the Hummer H3 SUT will offer both V6 and V8 power. No word on displacement or power numbers, but the new engines should give the new truck the kind of punch necessary to lure crew cab truck buyers who might otherwise head for powerful import rivals like the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma.

Although the prototype in our spy pictures and video doesn't appear all that much different from a standard H3 SUV, there are a few easy tip-offs to its new body style. Unlike on standard H3 models, the rear wheelwells don't intrude into the back door frames, an indication of the extended wheelbase. This prototype also carries its spare tire under the frame, a necessary change given that it probably has a flip-down tailgate like a pickup instead of the SUV's side hinged version.

Look for the debut of this all-new Hummer in early 2008 with sales beginning in the spring.

havent heard much new info , seems like they are dragging their feet on the sut and the H4 , i would guess that the sut wouldant take more than 2 years from the release of the h3suv , guess the best we can hope for is next year

we should see the truck next year (fingers crossed) as for the H4 , its hopefully gonna be out a year later . so its looking like the truck may be out in 08 as an 09 and then the H4 in 09 as a 2010 .

this is just a guess , based on a lot of dis-information along with speculation .

i wish it was gonna be sooner GM has been pretty good at keeping their latest vehicles hidden , the spy shots we see are usually planned ahead of time . when the C5 vette was being developed they had its chasis under a camaro running the streets and nobody knew . they could be rollin an h4 chassis right now under an h3 or ?????

believe me I'm watchin for the GM trailers to roll into town , i want to get some spy shots
