Default No Hummer Hybrid Anytime Soon!

The Hummer has been knocked by environmental groups for its fuelish ways, but don't expect a hybrid gas-electric version of this General Motors SUV anytime soon.

"Should we immediately go and get on the hybrid bandwagon? No, that's not appropriate for us," said Susan Docherty, general manager of the Hummer Division.

"We need to be true to what we are from a Hummer standpoint. We're a real masculine, rugged, irreverent brand," she said Tuesday.

Hummer's sales are up 87 percent to 42,657 this year through October, thanks to the popularity of the new H3, the brand's smallest model. But fuel economy is not among the top 10 issues buyers have when considering a 6,400-pound H2 and is only ranked 10th for owners of the H3, Docherty said. The H3 gets up to 20 miles per gallon.

I Think it would be a great idea, since gas prices are still up, Hummer should do a Hybrid.

Default Well make it a hybrid

There may not be any hybrid hummers but you can convert the hummer into one. You can use an HHO kit or an electric assist kit to raise the mpg on those gas guzzlers. Theres a bunch of places that sell these kits. I actually just found two earlier that talks about these hybrid conversions at http://www.convert2hybrid.com and http://www.hybridcars.com

I think thats the way to go until Hummer comes out with a hybrid. I have seen a video on some guy who converted his H3 to run on HHO(water) kit. I forgot which site, it's one of those I mentioned.

Default No Hybrid needed

Since I have been averaging 25mpg (Validated on 1000 mile road trip) on my 2007 H3, I have no complaints since it is better than the average pig SUV out there. I will keep my hummer and at 35mpg for a ugly Smart car I would rather drive the Hummer.

It's not that appropriate to see hybrid hummer because as the manager said,a masculine feature is indicated but if making hybrid cars including hummer will be good to our environment, why not.Fuel efficiency, environment friendly at the same time the dream hummer.
